Use Key Cabinets to Prevent Theft

If you run a business which requires you to handle a large amount of keys, it’s important you know how to keep the keys safe and secure. Many valet businesses, car lots and landlords find it difficult not only to keep up with keys but also keep them away from criminals. The easiest way for someone to steal a car is if they have the key! Thus, leaving keys unlocked and unprotected can ruin your business, your reputation and your life.

Key cabinets are small to medium sized lock boxes. They are very similar to mailboxes, without a slot. They are often mounted to a wall or concrete post. Inside each key cabinet you can find a variety of things. Many models contain small hooks, lined in rows. These hooks can be used to hang keys. Other models contain small magnetic strips where keys can simply be stuck. All key cabinets come with an outside lock, allowing you to keep the keys secure unless you need to utilize them.

While key cabinets are most often used for security, they are also very good for organizational purposes. A car lot contains many cars, thus the office must keep up with many different auto keys. There is nothing more frustrating to a car salesperson or a customer than trying to locate a lost car key. In fact, customers often get so frustrated they leave without making a purchase. Therefore, if you run an auto business it’s more important than ever to keep your keys organized and easily accessible with a key cabinet.
