Weather Vanes Spruce Up Roofs Near You

There is something about weather vanes difficult to explain. Sure, they are functional but this is not the reason why there has been a resurgence in the interest in these whimsical and yet functional bits of exterior decor. Perhaps it is the notion weather vanes bespeak an easier time when there was less conflict, more home comfort and when owning a home and sticking on weather vanes actually symbolized the achievement of the American dream.

This same sentiment is echoed today and there are countless varieties of weather vanes on sale. There are descending or ascending birds, gargoyles, occupation oriented designs, and the traditional rooster. Some weather vanes are made from copper and then finished with either blue verde or polished to a shine. In other cases the material may be aluminum or even – in rare cases – wood. No matter what material and finish is chosen, there is little doubt weather vanes look great on any roof.

Roof mounts for weather vanes also vary, depending on the pitch of the roof, the weighting of the weather vane and the kinds of shingles used. Best of all, even flat roofs can be adorned with vanes which suit your fancy and add a capricious look to the home’s exterior. Since flat roofs are most commonly found on businesses, these are now also beginning to look to this kind of exterior decoration to not only advertise their venues, but also to simply beautify the area.
